A study of Manhattan’s overlooked spaces and everyday details, revealing the architecture, objects, textures, and quiet moments that exist between the city’s familiar landmarks.

Artist Statement
New York: The City Between explores the details of a city that rarely stands still.
Beyond its familiar landmarks are passages, aging facades, unexpected objects, and moments of human solitude. These are the places and encounters that caught my eye.
Each work begins with a photograph I made while walking through Manhattan.
Through selective digital transformation, I refine the relationship between subject
and setting, often emphasizing geometry, color, weathering, and the space
surrounding an object. Some images remain close to the original photograph; others are more substantially reimagined.
The collection moves from vaulted ceilings and repeating windows to a lost child’s
shoe, a worn playground camel, and a patch of wild greenery glimpsed through a
construction barrier. It is not a portrait of the famous city, but of the city between its monuments.
I am interested in what survives, what is overlooked, and how an ordinary sight can become extraordinary when given our full attention.
